Weight Loss Snack Foods - Delicious and Healthy Treats

If you're on a diet, the way you deal with snack cravings can be what makes or breaks your weight loss success. Everyone is tempted by snack food, especially when trying to cut back on overall caloric intake. The way to promote healthy and effective weight loss is to eat weight loss snack foods that won't ruin your progress. These healthy snacks will keep you full and diminish your cookie craving, so you're diet won't be ruined by a case of snack-time hunger binging.

Sweet snacks like candy and cookies are empty calories; you get nothing but a sugar crash and a ruined diet when you succumb to too many. The same goes for potato chips and other greasy treats-avoid them if you want to lose weight. The best weight loss snack foods pack punch; they're filled with protein and vitamins without excess sugars. For example, hard-boiled egg whites have lots of protein and only a few calories. Other protein-filled healthy snacks include peanut butter, nuts and seeds, light tuna fish, beans, frozen yogurt and smoothies. All of these snack options will keep you full for a long time without unnecessary sugar.

Fruits and vegetables are other great weight loss snack foods that aren't as high in protein. The good thing about fruits and vegetables is they are virtually calorie free and a good source of vitamins and fiber. The bad thing-they won't fill you up for long. So if you're just looking for something to chew on, grab an apple or a celery stick. But if you're really hungry, add peanut butter or an egg white. This way, you'll be more satisfied and less likely to binge on cookies.

Finally, try to change your attitude about snacking. Don't think about snacks as cheating on your diet; instead, think about them as small meals. If you have five meals a day-three regular and two snack-sized-you'll never be hungry and you'll be less likely to eye sweet treats. Which will mean smooth sailing for your diet.
